Dreams versus reality

Dreams versus reality is a fight with a predetermined  winner, reality. Does that mean that following our dreams is futile? No, quite the opposite.

One can forget about their dreams and keep with the current reality, but then nothing will change.

One can modify their dreams, so that they fit in the current reality.

Or one can modify reality so the dreams fit in.

Mostly you have to use them all sometimes.

My current reality won, in that my work time was for work. I adapted my dreams, not making the project as big as I initially wanted, just to be able to make it. And I molded reality into one in where I could do the game and did it.

You don't need to win all the battles to win the war.

After this motivational speech let's talk about what feel on the way, in order to make the dream come true.

An idea that didn't even make it to the notebook was to make it 3D. From another project I started I knew how difficult it was compared with 2D, so it never got made.

Mixing game genres, engines, and similar items in order to create a plan, which could be later refined, was another thing that fell. It would have given the game the easy alchemy vibe that everyone was probably expecting.

The last interesting thing that didn't make it to the notebook was to be able to make podcasts, live streams and create a following before the release.

On the things that fell out but were on the plan I can think of the main ones. Music, Fx, character sprite. Time was short in the end.

Finally let's talk about imposing our dreams on reality. One of the last things I did was the dark thoughts system. It's what makes the game special, and without it there would be no way the game represented anything close to the jam theme.

Now go to your projects, negotiate with them, go to reality, and mold it in a way that your project fits in.

Move forward, you can do it.
